NEW YORK -- NBA.com's New Fantasy Guru "The Talented Mr. Roto" Matthew Berry to Provide Players with Exclusive Fantasy Insight

The National Basketball Association has unveiled its most comprehensive fantasy line-up for the upcoming 2005-06 NBA Season, including the first-ever "All-NBA First Team - Fantasy" Award, which will mark the first time a professional sports league has recognized the all-stars and best fantasy players around the world.

At the conclusion of the NBA fantasy season, the five top fantasy players

in NBA.com's Fantasy Basketball Salary Cap Challenge will be named to the "2005-06 All-NBA First Team - Fantasy." As part of an exclusive First Team prize package, the winners will have the unique opportunity to meet with an NBA GM to see how the pros do it.

As the definitive source of fantasy basketball, the NBA's online Fantasy Resource Center will provide players with unprecedented fantasy elements including access to 130 NBA player statistical categories on NBA.com, groundbreaking NBA fantasy games available in Chinese and Spanish, NBA.com Fantasy Basketball Magazine, a new fantasy ticker on NBA TV and many other new features across the league's various assets.

Throughout the season, NBA fantasy players will also receive exclusive fantasy insight and expertise on NBA.com and NBA TV from the award-winning "The Talented Mr. Roto" Matthew Berry, who joins NBA.com as their newest fantasy guru, and Rick Kamla, fantasy expert and host of "NBA TV Fantasy Hoops," a nightly fantasy show that has become the ultimate guide for fantasy basketball players.

"Fantasy basketball isn't just a game - it's a way of life, every bit as much as basketball is a way of life for our players, coaches and general managers," said Brenda Spoonemore, Senior Vice President of Interactive Services for NBA Entertainment. "By creating a fan fantasy award platform and making the same insider resources and analysis available that our coaches and GM's use, fantasy players will be more competitive and closer to the game than ever before."

The NBA's fantasy elements will include:

NBA.com - 130 NBA Player Statistical Categories:

For the first time, fantasy players will have all the stats and inside numbers that coaches, scouts and GM's have - and all for FREE. Need to know how a player performs on a certain number of days rest between games? How they perform against certain teams, by quarter or even on a certain day of the week? With NBA.com's enhanced player statistical categories, offering 80 new statistical categories and 130 overall, fantasy players will have everything they need to know about any NBA player.

NBA.com Fantasy Basketball Magazine

This year, and for the first time ever, the NBA is providing fantasy basketball players with access to the most comprehensive fantasy basketball magazine, NBA.com Fantasy Basketball Magazine. The new magazine, sponsored by Toyota and available on newsstands throughout the country, will be an exclusive draft guide, offering players everything they need to know for drafting their team including an exclusive fantasy NBA rookie impact report by legendary NBA Director of Scouting Marty Blake.

NBA.com Fantasy Game in Chinese and Spanish

NBA.com will unveil NBA High Scorers Challenge, a groundbreaking new fantasy game available in both Spanish and Chinese. The game will mark the first time a professional sports league has offered fantasy players a game in multiple languages.
