ArticlesThe Vikings Are Setting Up Their Fans to Be DisappointedThe Minnesota Vikings won their fifth straight game beating the hapless Detroit Lions on the road this past Sunday. The Viking's defense had a good game and their offense seemed to be working well together. Brad Johnson had a productive afternoon and looked comfortable at the helm.I was really pleased with wide receiver Koren Robinson who looked really good. Robinson scored an eighty yard touchdown on the first offensive series of the game.I still have concerns about the Vikings performance. So what is my problem? I'm concerned that the media are full of hype in their praise of the Vikings and their newly found admiration of Mike Tice. The Vikings have beaten sub-par teams during their winning streak. They had wins against New York (Giants), Detroit (twice), Green Bay, and Cleveland who have a combined record of twenty wins and thirty losses.I'm concerned that we're all giving the Vikings too much credit. I think we may be setting up this team and their fans for the fall. Lets say that the Vikings make the playoffs and we have to face a good team. I think they will not be prepared and will have inflated expectations setting themselves up to be blown away by their competition. I know a win is a win but the Vikings are not playing competitive teams and in a couple of the victories in their winning streak they looked awful. The Detroit Lions are a team in turmoil. They fired coach Dave Mariucci prior to Sunday's game. They've also had problems in consistency with their quarterbacks all year. This is a game that would have made the Vikings look inept had they lost.I believe that Vikings owner Zygi Wilf will now allow Mike Tice to hold onto his position as head coach. I think that it would be a mistake to keep Tice as head coach. I think there will be some good coaches available in 2006 and the Vikings should take advantage of the talent pool that will be available to them.I need to address one more issue before I sign off. Now that the Vikings are on a winning streak, the media have put their pencils behind their ears and have forgotten about Cruisegate. I'm still sickened by that horrible affair and I want the players who took part to be disciplined. I don't think that the Vikings fans should receive justice for the alleged acts created by some Vikings players.I'm sickened that the media will only report on those horrible acts when a team is losing but forget about those acts when a team is winning games. Horrible acts need to be dealt with in good and bad times. Vikings fans must demand that they receive answers to what happened during Cruisegate. .Anthony B.is the founder and owner of ItsTheRightWay.com a news, political, and sports commentary website.Anthony has over 7 years of experience as a business professional.
